Continue the Attack!

Leadership InitiativeIn every battle there comes a time when both sides consider themselves beaten, then he who continues the attack wins. – Ulysses S. Grant

As leaders we need to remind ourselves that things are not always what they seem. As humans, each one of us walks around with a point of view. Unless we train ourselves otherwise, it’s easy to believe that our point of view is synonymous with reality. We assume that we have the whole story. The truth? Neither our perspective nor that of others tells the whole story.

Don’t give in when you feel you can’t go any further – the end might be right around the corner! Don’t give up on an employee that is under-performing – engage them, find out what’s happening! Don’t despair when your organization stumbles – look for an opportunity to move forward!

Where do you consider yourself beaten right now? How can you continue the attack?
